A few years ago, Cheryl went to the mid-west to visit her parents, since her dad was anticipating surgery. That time was simultaneously stressful and poignant.

We wrote this song as a way to process that time. An “open letter” to her father, it reflected on their many sweet times together. The last line, “. . . the story of you and me,” helped her remember that they do share a unique story together. We recorded the song. During Cheryl’s childhood, she had created a special Valentine’s Day card for him. So we created our version and sent him a copy of the drawing. It arrived in Indiana for his 81st birthday.

He was pleased and commented that he still has the original card she made for her "big tall daddy." And so, still, their story continues.
